The pendant thickness is not too much, and not too little! This pendant has a nice weight to it. The chain goes through the hold near the top of the pendant. This is the 18" length on me! It's currently my favorite length for necklaces. Sometimes I do like to double up on necklaces, in which case, this one is small enough that I like to wear it as my "shorter length necklace" (one size shorter from your bigger/longer necklace).
