| HAIR WAX PRODUCTS I admit it: I AM A HAIR CARE PRODUCT JUNKIE! One of the few addictions that my husband and I share, is our love of hair care products! I've been cutting and coloring his hair for years now, just for fun--he's like an art project for me, and hair is just a different medium that'll grow back if I really screw up!!! The problem is, we have completely different hair: mine is very straight and much thicker, his is very curly (if not subdued), and super fine. I keep his hair pretty short for the most part (or it becomes a "white boy 'fro"), and I go through a variety of hair phases, so I have to find different products for all the different lengths and styles! ***BTW, I'm not gettting anything from these people and janetjewelry has nothing to do with the products below! I just like these products, so use them at your own risk! |

Paul Brown, Wacks I got this in Hawaii at the Paul Brown Salon, where my hairdresser of 15+ years(!) is now the Vice President (she did my hair at my wedding!) It's like using wax, but the best part is, it washes out completely with shampoo (unlike wax!). It's great for short hair, it's got a lot of hold without leaving your hair crispy (like sprays do), and you can sculp it into crazy, chunky styles. I think it was $12? Something like that. Hawaii is really humid, and I think they formulated this product with that in mind, so it holds well on hot, humid days. |

Bead Head, Manipulator I got this from a stylist friend of mine who swears by it. It's kind of gooey, and you use just a little, spread it around on your hands, and work it into your hair to mold into crazy styles. I like this product a lot, too, but I think the Paul Brown Wacks has a little bit more hold. It's good on dry days, but not as strong on humid days. I'm not sure how much it is, but I saw it at Rickys. |

Paul Mitchell, Wax Works I used to use this one a lot when my hair was much longer. It's gooey-er than the above two, so it was easier to get it into my hair when it was really long (I had a "rocker chick" sort of shag last year). It also has a nice shine to it, too. It's not as hard core as the above products, but I liked it for the hairstyle that I had at the time. |

Nakano Styling Wax, Hard My cousin got this for me in Japan as a gift, so I have no idea where you can find it or how much it costs.... I just went to Japan in June, and kids had all sorts of crazy, punky styles and I wondered what they used to hold up stubborn, straight, Asian hair! This product is probably the least tacky of the waxes, and also has the lightest hold. The best part is the packaging: the subtitle under the brand name says, "It makes you stylish." |

Wella, Liquid Hair Moonshine Pomade I used to use this product when I had shoulder length hair with a cut that was like a "shoegazer stringy hair" look. You know, that geeky, Weezer sort of indie rock girl hair. It spurts out like a dry mousse, and it has a very light hold that kind of turns shiney and stringy. I'm not super crazy with the way it smells (it doesn't smell bad, but I just don't like products that have a smell of its own because I hate when all these smells compete with one another). It's an interesting effect (for straighter styles) but don't expect any volume. |

Dax Wax, Wave and Groom Hair Dress My husband loves this thing--it's only $2.99, and a little goes a long way! It's basically a wax, so it's kind of gunky, super thick, and says it's "especially made for short hair." I don't use it because it leaves a waxy feel in my hair (and it leaves a waxy feel on your hands), but my husband doesn't seem to notice it. It's hardcore hold--Merv just molds his hair the way he wants it, and it stays like that all day. He has unruly, curly hair, and this product holds in a way the others don't. Great for low maintenance guys who want a high maintenance look! |

Vidal Sassoon, Defining Wax Merv really likes this one, too. It's a wax (beeswax), not as hardcore as the above, but it's got a pretty good hold without being too tacky. It's got kind of a strong smell when you first put it on (it's a nice clean smell), but goes away in a few minutes. We have no idea how much this one is; Merv got it from one of his stylists at work. |
