HAIR COLORING PRODUCTS! My hair's been a random assortment of colors for years now, ranging from Ronald McDonald Red, to Anime Girl Turquoise, Barbie Blonde (well, it was streaked, not completely blonde), and it's been Magenta Pink to match my store since November 2001. So many people stop me on the street to ask what I use to color my hair, so below are products I've tried, which one works and which ones are a complete waste of time! Also listed is the one housecleaning product that works wonders to get the dye off your sink and tub! Remember, with colored hair, you also need shampoo that will protect the hair color--it really does make a difference! With the crazy colors, you have to "refresh" the color every week, or it fades as if you've been in the pool too long. If you have really dark hair (like me!), you also have to first get your hair bleached so that the color takes. Crazy colors are so obvious, that I highly recommend that you get the initial bleaching process done at a salon, and then refresh the color yourself. To refresh your color, all you need is a hair color brush, a latex glove (optional), and a hair color product of your choice! ***BTW, I'm not gettting anything from these people and janetjewelry has nothing to do with the products below! I just like these products, so use them at your own risk!
					Manic Panic, in Hot Hot Pink This is my FAVORITE hair color product in my favorite color! In NYC, they sell it at any Ricky's, and it's $8.99. Of the products that I've tried, it has the strongest, boldest color, and the longest staying power. The Hot Hot Pink says that it glows under black light, but I haven't been to a club lately, so I have no idea....
					Fudge Painbox, in Pretty Flamingo I tried this one because I heard that there was a crazy hair color product on the market that had super duper staying power. This thing was $15.99, so I thought it might be "the one," but doh! Compared to the Manic Panic, it wasn't as strong a color--perhaps on someone with fairer skin, blonder hair, it would be nice, but it looked dull on me, and it faded in a week, same as Manic Panic.
					Clairol Jazzinc, in Fuschia Plum I found this in the color section, and the sample looked like a pretty pink, so I thought I'd try it. WRONG! Granted, it's only $4.99, but you know the color is not going to stay in your hair if it's not going to stain your sink! (It says, "Semi-Permanent!") And, it SMELLS bad...for like, 2 days! It shampooed right off, that I had to recolor with the little Manic Panic I had left.
					Clorox Clean-Up, Cleaner with Bleach This thing is the bomb! My sink and tub had all kinds of pink stains I couldn't get off, and my mom, the cleaning guru, bought this ($3.19) and it's amazing! You spray it on your hair dye mess, leave it for a few minutes, and you just rinse and wipe clean! No scrubbing! Woo-hoo!
					Rusk Brilliance, Grapefruit & Honey Color Protect Shampoo I became addicted to Rusk products in college when I randomly got asked to model for a Rusk Hair Show (I was just having cappucino at a cafe), and then got selected from a room full of girls by Louise Rusk herself, who cut my hair! I went home with a fabulous do (everyone asked me who cut my hair for weeks after; it was bizarre!) and a huge bag full of products! I got this at Ricky's for $9.99, it smells nice (not overpowering) and it's gentle on the hair color but still makes the hair feel clean.
					Neutrogena, Clean Color Defending Shampoo I bought it because I used to like the Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo, but I wasn't so thrilled with this particular product. It wasn't so bad on the color, but the thing is, it didn't make my hair feel clean either, and it actually left me with dandruff after a few days...DOH! Not exactly the look I was going for....
