AlpineStars invited Merv to go to the Moto GP Finals in Valencia, Spain, in November 2003, and they were (and are!) so amazingly cool, they let me tag along!

Puppeto, the Stuff Magazine Clown Doll
When Merv & I went to Japan the year before, we had to take the Stuff Magazine doll, RatBear, everywhere with us. In fact, there was a 2 page article about "RatBear does Japan." This time, we had to take Puppeto....

Valentino Rossi's Bike
They had a contest this year for designers to send in their designs for the Valentino Rossi bike, and this is the winning entry. The winner got his design on the bike, and I think they said he got a duplicate?

This Honda bike went on to win the Moto GP Final--Valentino Rossi is amazing...unfortunately for Honda, he announced right after the race that he was leaving Honda to race for Yamaha.

Randy Mamola, former Moto GP racer, took us all on a VIP pit tour, and let us see the Ducati & Honda bikes.

The Ducati Trailor
If you've ever been to a race before, all the big names have their own trailors, but we're not talking trailor park trailors... These are the fold out, hard-core trailors, and I have to say, Ducati had the most impressive one! The front had automatic doors, and I heard they had a bar as soon as you walked in!

Here's a photo of their trailor, with Jamie Bestwick, the #1 BMX Vert Rider in the world, i.e. Gold Medalist for the X-Games, with Puppeto, of course.

Honda came in 1, 2, and 4 in the Moto GP Finals this time, but Ducati had #3. Most motorcycle boys I know dream of owning a Ducati one day, so here's THE Ducati....

Jamie had to take all kinds of tests that day to make sure that he was qualified (health-wise) to ride with Randy. Once approved, the geared him up, had him sit tangent to Randy, and off they went for 2 laps.

Imagine, here's a guy (Jamie, I mean) who is the best BMX Vert rider on planet Earth, and he was speechless after the ride, so it must've been the most amazing experience....

The Bestwicks
I met the Bestwicks, Jamie & Kerry, on this trip, and they are the coolest, nicest people! Kerry's a Pilates & Yoga instructor. They're originally from the UK, but currently live in PA, which is where Jamie & Chad train.
