Postmodern Candy Series
My first line of jewelry that is still the most popular!
Postmodernism means different things to different people. At Janet Sterling Silver Design, it means that you matter: what do you like? Who are you? What do certain words mean to you? There is reality beyond language, as ideas, words, and social constructs shift and give way to new realites. In other words, it celebrates the individual spirit: no more grand narratives or the "Universal Man." We can speak for ourselves.
This was my first "line" of jewelry that started off my jewelry career in 1997, and it's still my favorite: with so many choices, I rarely make the same thing twice, and even if it's similar (i.e. same kanji in the same color), since each glass drop is slightly different in size and shape, I handcraft each one from scratch: the fine silver bezel, sawing the bottom sterling silver piece, stamping the metal, soldering it together, oxidizing the word(s), attaching it to the style ordered....No two pieces are ever the same! If you value individuality as much as I do, this is definitely the line for you!
Choose your color; choose your style; choose your word. Something serious? Something silly? Your screen name? Your kids' names? An adjective? A noun? Choose what you desire.
How to Order the Postmodern Candy Jewelry
1) Pick your flavor (color). I will post the color selection here soon; sorry for the delay! I didn't realize I didn't have it up here! We have: Minty Fresh Teal (teal--it's darker, so the word is more subtle); Grape-a-licious (purple); Lichee Clear (clear); Cinnamon Fire (it's a reddish orange); Icy Blue (like a sky blue); Lemon Drop (yellow); Apple green (exactly how it sounds!); Pink Lemonade (pink, a little on the peachy side). Click on the underlined color to see a sample of that color.
2) Choose your word(s). You can use letters from the English alphabet and/or numbers, and/or "&" symbol. You can also choose from our selection of Kanji characters (one kanji per drop; click here the available kanjis). You can choose ONE WORD (7 letters/numbers maximum); TWO WORDS (6 letters/numbers max each); or THREE WORDS (5 characters each). Note: in order to fit three words, I will only use one size caps (my smaller steel stamps). All kanji characters are approximately the same size: 5/16."
3) Pick your style! We have necklaces, bracelets, rings, and keychains! Click the link on the bottom of this page to see my signature line!
All pieces are custom made of fine silver, sterling silver, and hand dropped glass (except for the keychains, in which I substitute clear acrylic for glass so that it won't crack if you drop your keys!). This line of jewelry takes a little longer to make and mail out to you, since I individually pick the glass according to the size of the word(s), and make it to order. The average time frame is one week, but during peak jewelry crunch season (Nov-Dec), they may get backed up.
This line is completely made-to-order and is non-return-able/refundable unless there is a spelling error which was made on my end (extremely rare, but I admit, it has happened once in the past 5 years. D'oh!)
