What Can We Pack into a Day?
We extended our trip one day, and here's what we did!
Boogie Board Rental
I have no idea where my boards went, but it was only $16 each a day to rent these. I love boogie boarding! Favorite spot: Wailupe Circle, but I never go there without my big brother Curt (my brother's best friend).

Borrow the Honda Element
Merv really wanted to try it out, so my brother lent it to us for the day.

Yay for Tony Group Autoplex!

My brother Stan (left) and Merv!

Sugar Cane Fields
Tony Group is right off H2 on the way up to Mililani, so we drove through Haleiwa to get to the North Shore. Here are the sugar cane fields.

Pineapple Fields
I think it's just been picked. I can't really tell from this photo, sorry!

Kua Aina Burger in Haleiwa
They have a second store in town, but you've got to go to this one!

The Kua Aina Burger
Need I explain?

Matsumoto Shave Ice
As if the burger wasn't enough, we went down the road for dessert! They have really thinly shaved ice, so soft and fluffy! I think I got Lichee, Vanilla, and Mango with vanilla ice cream on the bottom. And a really retro looking tee, too!

Waimea Bay
We didn't have time to stop, but here's a photo from the car. This beach is really pretty, but the waves break really close to shore, and there's a heavy undercurrent.

Laie Coast
This is one of my favorite chill out places.

Ocean Sounds
Growing up, we lived right on a cliff overlooking the ocean, and there's something really soothing about waves crashing on the rocks.

Local Boy Merv
He's glow in the dark white, but he does his best to try to blend in.

Drive along the water
There's only one road, two lanes, double yellow solid, that goes around the island in these parts....

Chinaman's Hat
A knickname for Mokuli'i Island, which is uninhabited.

The foldable Element!
This car is great for the outdoor-sy crowd! It totally folds up in various ways, depending on how you need the interior space to be. I had enough room to change (with the seats folded up to the sides), and the boards fit with ease.

Sherwood Forest
My favorite beach. If you're boogie boarding, it's easier on the tummy skin if you have a one piece, or a tee shirt

Just be careful of Portugese-Man-of-War (jelly fish) during July. We often carry meat tenderizer for sting emergencies, but we didn't have a problem in May.

Honolulu City Lights
We're just about finished going around the island clockwise. This photo was taken near Hanauma Bay overlooking Hawaii Kai.
