Atop the Asolo Hill...
Asolo is a BEAUTIFUL, tiny, old-school Italian town, about an hour outside of Venice. I used to live in Rome from 1991-92, and travelled a lot in Italy then, and I have to say, it is one of my favorite countries. I love their appreciation for the beauty in everyday things, and their love for design---they do such an amazing job of integrating modern design with respect for preserving the past. Italy is so aesthetically pleasing....

"God is in the details."
I had a friend who used to say that to me all the time, and it resonates with me when I'm in Italy. The craftsmanship in the details of their designs is so inspiring--they obviously put their souls on the line when it came to their craft, and it is truly timeless.

Hotel Something....
We stayed in the tiniest, quaintest of hotels I've ever encountered! See Chad in the second floor window? Merv & I were right on top of that! (I was nursing the afterparty hangover....no more Redbull & Vodkas for janet EVER, please....).

There must have been only about 4 rooms per floor, but I loved the designs of the rooms! Again, the most amazing integration of modern and old-school design....

AlpineStars Factory
We got the full tour of the AlpineStars factory in Asolo, which is where they're based. It's amazing to me that they only have about 500 employees--it is so well run, so efficient, and so internationally well known & respected--how does one get to that point, is what I want to learn....

The following photos were all taken at AlpineStars' Testing Lab. It's really amazing--they perform so many different kinds of tests on their boots (i.e. to test & develop technologically advanced fabrics, boot design, etc, to make it more comfortable and safe for its users), so we put Puppeto to the challenge....

Tommi Makinen's special boot
Tommi Makinen's the triple consecutive FIA World Rally Champion, and here's his special racing boot that AlpineStars developed just for him to his specifications.

I had known of AlpineStars as a motorcycle boot & gear company, and I had no idea until this tour that they developed so many other things, i.e. for World Rally, F1, Motocross, Moto GP, Nascar, etc! Not just boots, but the outer gear, too! And it's not just for looks--it's about scientifically creating technologically advanced products for comfort, and especially safety, and I can't express how impressed I was with their company.
